Edwin himself

I initially made friends with UNIX back in 1981, while still in secondary school (Atheneum B, Coevorden). I received my B.Sc. in Computer Science from HIO Enschede (IHBO "De Maere" in the before-web era, now Saxion) in 1988 and subsequently joined the Computer Systems Group of the Department of Computer Science at Utrecht University. Since then, I have been administering/hacking many flavors of UNIX systems, network infrastructures, Internet services and perimeter defense security components. I co-founded CERT-UU and am a member of the CERT-NL experts group. After having served on the NLUUG board for eight consecutive years since 1996, I'm now honorary member of the NLUUG.

In September 2000, I joined TUNIX Internet Security & Training as a developer/teacher/consultant and spent several years working on Internet security issues. From January 2005 till June 2006 I was also hired by ICONIQ as a systems administrator/webmaster/technical advisor.

In December 2006, I landed a gig at the Systems and Infrastructure OIS/LSMC group of Air Traffic Control the Netherlands as a UNIX System Engineer. In the summer of 2009 I moved to the S&I/ATMS/AAA group as a software developer/network architect for the Amsterdam Advanced Air Traffic Control System.

I initiated the SANE conferences in 1997 and was the program chair for the first three consecutive SANE conferences, program committee member for SANE 2004 and conference chair for the SANE 2006 conference.
